Our services include: Valuations As a reseller of collectibles, Strauss & Co is well placed to offer expert appraisals. Our team of specialists in the Art, Design, Fine Jewellery and Wine departments are available to help with the valuation of your collections. We can assist with modern, post- war and contemporary art, local ceramics and the decorative arts, including Cape furniture, historical silverware, and fine jewellery. The company is also a leader in the resale of collect- able South African and international fine wines. We provide free valuations Online through our website, or in person at our offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, by appointment. We also have regional representation in the Winelands, Garden Route and KwaZulu-Natal. We regularly host a variety of valuation days throughout South Africa and further afield. Valuations are based on recent auction precedent and current trends in the market, and are provided for auction sale estimates, estate distribution, insurance or probate. Auctions The Strauss & Co auction calendar is anchored by five auction weeks per year, which include live-virtual and timed-online auc- tions. In addition, we hold three focussed Spotlight sales and an average of ten timed-online sales at the beginning of eachmonth, each approximately a week in duration, making collectable art available to local and international buyers on a monthly basis. Our live and timed-online sales are academically robust and are researched, presented, curated and contextualised with the utmost care. Auction Estimates We advise on whether an artwork is best suited to a live or an online auction, when the best time to sell might be, and pro- vide estimates of the sale values likely to be achieved. We base our valuations on auction records of similar works sold in the recent past. In most instances there is no charge for this ser- vice. Clients are welcome to bring artworks into our offices for valuation or to submit an online valuation request through our website. Private Sales In addition to Strauss & Co’s core auction business, we can arrange the swift sale of select, high-value items privately and with complete discretion.
