• In November, The Three Robs: Artist, Collaborator, Friend was the first-ever auction exclusively devoted the much-loved artist, teacher and critic Robert Hodgins. It featured rare oils, watercolours, monotypes, pastels and drawings, many from the Estate of the Late Robert Hodgins and previously unseen. The oil paintings Dancer and her Admirer (1991) and A Most Superior Person (2005) sold for R569 000 ($33 562) each. The auction saw robust bidding for a diverse body of work, with solid prices achieved for works by Hardy Botha, Claude Bouscharain, Carl Büchner, Erik Laubscher, J. H. Pierneef, Stanley Pinker, George Ramagaga, Maurice van Essche and Jean Welz. The sale earned a solid total of R14.6 million ($858 823). 44
