Cecil Skotnes The Origin of Wine/The Epic of Gilgamesh Sold R910 400 Cecil Skotnes Still Life with Bottles Sold R625 900 The KWV Collection In 2021 Strauss & Co assisted the Cape Wine Growers Association (KWV) and FirstRand Group with deaccessioning their historical collections. Buyer interest in historical works from the KWV Collection was pronounced. Started in 1958 and formerly displayed at the Laborie Manor and KWV Sensorium in the company’s La Concorde head office, both in Paarl, the consignment included Cecil Skotnes’s elaborate panel piece The Origin of Wine/The Epic of Gilgamesh, which sold for R910 400. An undated Skotnes still life, Still Life with Bottles , went for R625 900. 37
