Simphiwe Ndzube Waiting for Mlungu (III) Sold R455 200 In November a 2017 mixed-media painting by Ndzube titled Waiting for Mlungu (III) sold for R455 200. At that same sale, Mustafa Maluka’s confection-coloured portrait Right You Are (If You Think You Are) sold for R569 000, well over the high estimate. Young Zimbabwean painter Portia Zvavahera made her debut at Strauss & Co in July with an expressionist study of a couple embracing, Pakatangira Rudo (Where Love Began) , which sold for R352 780. Other notable newcomers included Phillemon Hlungwani and Bambo Sibiya, both posting solid results in November. 34
