Goldblatt’s diptych, Ericson Mgomane’s advert, Republic Road, Darrenwood (2002), sold for R125 048, doubling its high estimate, and his 2003 study of a farmworker’s cottage in Sutherland achieved R147 784 (high estimate R80 000). A suite of ten candid portraits by Billy Monk, a nightclub bouncer and amateur photographer admired by Goldblatt, sold for R181 888 (high estimate R120 000).
