Lien Botha studied languages and worked as a press photographer before moving from Johannesburg to Cape Town in 1984. In 1988 she obtained a BA(FA) degree from UCT. Since that time she has participated in over eighty South African group shows and forty international group exhibitions, has held nine solo exhibitions and was invited on a number of residencies. She has curated five exhibitions, collaborated with French theatre group Compagnie des Limbes and served on the curatorial committee of the first Cape Town Month of Photography. 58 Nicola Grobler . Nicola Grobler is a lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Pretoria. Grobler obtained a BA(FA) (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria and Masters degree (cum laude) from Michaelis in 2004. Her work amplifies the subtleties of the everyday. She is interested in the role of the artist in society, ecological aesthetics and participatory artwork. Grobler has exhibited in numerous group shows, locally and abroad. Recently one of her artist’s books was included in the Foundation Lettera27 collection, Italy. Her participatory artwork, Small Victories (2007-2009), was performed at CAPE 09: Convergence and Jozi and the (M)other City (2008). She has held two solo exhibitions to date, namely 4 Auto-Stroke (2006) and The Enigma Machine (2004). In 2006 her installation featured on the river Rhine during Art Basel 37 , whilst she was on a residency in Basel, Switzerland.
