Cape Town based artist Jeannette Unite has for the past decade been exploring Africa’s industrial landscape. Unite gathers minerals, mine dump waste and site specific sands, which are integral to her process of making her own pastels and paint. Her glass artworks contain molten industrial waste and metalliferous and diamondiferous material from her travels, so that artworks that portray landscape are made from the land itself. 39 Stuart Bird .
