Sean Slemon is a SouthAfrican artist who works in sculpture, installation and printmaking. He lives and works in NewYork City, New York. Slemon graduated from Michaelis in 2001 and completed his Masters degree at Pratt Institute, New York City, in 2007. Slemon has worked on the production and installation of museum and heritage sites in South Africa and elsewhere. Slemon was one of 17 artists chosen to define the concept of contour for Contour: The Definitive Line curated by Jon Coffelt. Slemon is a joint winner of South Africa’s 2005 Sasol New Signatures Competition , and was presented with the Judges Award. He was awarded a commission for the first Spier Biennial (2001) and served on the committee for Visual Arts Network of South Africa. 35 Dale Washkansky . Dale Washkansky obtained a Diploma in Film and Television Production Techniques in 2000 from City Varsity. After this introduction to photography he enrolled at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, completing his BA(FA) degree in 2006, and his MFA in 2010. In 2009Washkansky worked as the co-curator for the Centre for African Studies Gallery at UCT, working on, amongst other exhibitons, Shared Legacies: The Alfred Duggan-Cronin & Edward S. Curtis Photograph s. Washkansky currently is a part-time lecturer in Photography at the Ruth Prowse School of Art. Washkansky has participated in several group exhibitions and in 2011 had his first solo exhibition of his Masters work, A Space Between, at the AVA Gallery, Cape Town.
