Gavin Jantjes graduated from Michaelis in 1968 and went into exile in 1970. He completed his MA at the Art Academy in Hamburg, Germany. His works have been collected by the National Museum Smithsonian, MoMa, New York, the Tate and Hayward galleries in the UK. He was trustee of the Serpentine, Whitechapel and Tate galleries and the artistic director of Henie Onstad Art Centre in Oslo. He is currenlty the curator for contemporary international exhibitions at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, Norway.
