Lauren Palte is a Cape Town based painter and teacher. She completed both her undergraduate degree (2005) and her Masters in Fine Art Degree (2011) at Michaelis. Her work is concerned with the translation of familial archives in painting, exploring latent emotional and physical vulnerabilities. Before returning to the Michaelis School for her Masters Degree in 2009, Palte held a solo exhibition at the Rust en Vrede Gallery, Durbanville and she has participated in numerous group shows in Cape Town. She has worked extensively as a teacher and Community Arts practitioner. Palte will exhibit her Masters body of work at the AVA Gallery, Cape Town, in July this year. 19 Jenny Altschuler . Jenny Altschuler is a photographer and lecturer. Her long term positions have been as Principal Medical Photographer for Red Cross Children’s Hospital, Head of Photography at CityVarsity and Portrait Photographer for the South African Art Times . She received her MFA from Michaelis, UCT, in 2009 and was awarded the Katrine Harries Print Cabinet Award for her Masters body of photographic work, Platform 24 . Altschuler has exhibited nationally and abroad.
