After completing a MFA at Michaelis, Gabriel Clark-Brown lived, worked and exhibited in The Netherlands, the UK and Ireland for seven years before returning to Cape Town. On his return Clark-Brown taught printmaking at Rhodes University and then established an art information company that has evolved into The SA Art Times . Clark- Brown is currently working on the theme of the history of English settlers and their identity, seemingly living in both Africa and Europe. 10 Virginia MacKenny . Virginia MacKenny is a Senior Lecturer in Painting at Michae- lis. She completed her BA(FA) at the University of Natal in 1980 and MA in Gender Studies in 2001. She has received a number of awards including the Volkskas Atelier Award (1991) and the Ampersand Fellowship , New York (2004). She is an independent critic and curator and co-curated with Gabi Ncgobo Second to None for the Iziko South Afri- can National Gallery (2006). She was KZN editor for www. artthrob.co.za , was an invited writer for 10 Years 100 Art- ists (2004) and continues to write catalogue essays and for Art South Africa . MacKenny was a national selector for Spier Contemporary, and had solo exhibitions, Foam Along the Waterline , at UCT’s Irma Stern Museum (2008) and Cross- ing at David Krut Projects, Johannesburg (2009).
