Lebogang Mogul Mabusela SOUTH AFRICAN 1996– Pedals (our eyelashes must touch) 2020 watercolour and oil pastel on Fabriano sheet size: 50 by 35 cm ARTIST BIO Lebogang Mogul Mabusela is a multidisciplinary artist based in Johannesburg. In 2019 she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from theWits School of Arts where she was awarded the Standard Bank Fine Arts Prize. Mabusela has participated in a number of group exhibitions at the Wits Art Museum, The Project Space, Turbine Art Fair and Latitudes Art Fair, Design Indaba in Cape Town as part of top the 50 Emerging Creatives class of 2020 and more recently she was a runner up recipient of the Young Womxn Studio Bursary sponsored by Sam Nhlengethwa and the Bag Factory Artists’Studios. ARTIST BIO Grace Cross graduated with an MFA at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2016 and holds a BFA from the Michaelis School of Art for which she was awarded the Judy Steiner painting prize in 2010. Cross’ transglobal upbringing across continents informs her material painting, video and fibre practice. She enacts symbols about home, belief structures and land; making shifting recipe’s rooted in history, performative archaeology and African cosmology to reflect her cultural transmission across national boundaries. Cross is a grant recipient from the University of Illinois in Chicago and the National Arts Council, South Africa. Cross is part of the feminist artist collective the Femme Gems and of the Chicago-based greenhouse art ecology project Uptool. Grace Cross ZIMBABWEAN 1988– Twisted Mother 2021 mixed media on paper sheet size: 50 by 35 cm Unathi Mkonto SOUTH AFRICAN 1982– City Sketch I 2018 ink on paper sheet size: 72 by 51 cm Swain Hoogervorst SOUTH AFRICAN 1988– Flowers in the Studio 2021 oil bar and acrylic on card sheet size: 51 by 38,5cm ARTIST BIO Swain Hoogervorst lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa, exploring abstract botanicals via painting. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts fromVega and was selected as a top 100 finalist in the L’atelier Competition in both 2013 and 2015. Hoogervorst has participated in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including the AVA Gallery in Cape Town (2014), Everard Read (2017, 2020)in South Africa and London, United Kingdom. His work can be found in private and public collections, including the Spier Arts Trust. ARTIST BIO Unathi Mkonto is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works Cape Town, South Africa. His spatial practice uses art to explore the conditions of the built environment – drawing on his disciplines as both a trained architect and fashion designer.
