ITEM NOTES The 2018 vintage was one of winemaker, Callie Louw’s career highs. With aTimAtkin score of 100/100 it just doesn’t get any better. Produced in the Swartland region of SouthAfricawhich specializes in making rich, fruit-driven wines, this vintage is exceptional in every way. Filledwith ripe, rich fruit and a plethora of spices, the Porseleinberg 2018 Magnum has also not been sold in South Africa and a limited number of magnum bottles were produced. 2 Porseleinberg Syrah, 2019 1 (1 x 1) 1500ml R3 000 – 4 000 PROVENANCE Kindly donated by Louis Norval. ITEM NOTES The big, luscious Syrah grape is one of the darlings of the New World wine varietals. Originally from the Rhone Valley, this grape has found its home in dry, hot climates. South African Syrah tends to be heavy in blackberry and plum, with a voluptuous full body and a good dose of tannin. With only 300 magnums produced, none of which have been available for sale to the South African market, this is an incredible acquisition of an exceptional wine. We think a score of 99/100 fromTim Atkin says it all. 3 Porseleinberg Syrah, 2018 1 (1 x 1) 1500ml R3 000 - 4 000 PROVENANCE Kindly donated by Louis Norval. 4 Le Lude Vintage Cuvee, 2012 1 (1 x 1) 1500ml R6 000 - 8 000 PROVENANCE Kindly donated by Le Lude, Franschhoek. ITEM NOTES The grapes used to make this Cuvee were sourced from different parcels across the Western Cape in order to create the canvas of flavours needed to produce the basewine. The grapes were picked at first light in shallow 14kg crates, before being transported hastily to the cellar cooling chambers. The Le Lude 2012 Cuvee has tasting notes of a floral citrus with a blend of ripe lemons with development aromas of toasted brioche, caramel and buttered toast while boasting a creamy texture to the bubble. InMay 2019 the 2012 Vintage Cuvée from Franschhoek-based wine farm Le Lude received a platinum award (97 points) at the 16th Decanter World Wine Awards in London - making it the first South African Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) to receive such a high accolade. Only 2000 of these magnums were produced so this is certainly a wine lovers delight. BID BID BID 19
