14 14 A pair of Japanese Kutani vases, late Meiji period, 1868-1912 of baluster form, each painted with panels of children and their attendants enclosed by the wings of a ho-ho bird, the reverse with sprays of peonies against an iron-red ground, the sides with angular handles, traces of an iron-red signature, 30cm high ; and a pair of Japanese Kutani sake bottles and covers, early 20th century, of ovoid form, decorated with flowerheads and scrolling foliage against an iron-red ground, the covers similarly decorated, signed, 13cm high (4) R  -   15 A giltwood pier glass, late 19th/early 20th century the rectangular shaped plate within a moulded frame centred by a flowerhead cresting, the sides with trailing and scrolling foliage interspersed with flowerheads, the apron centred by a flower-filled jardiniere, losses, over-painting, 205cm high, 109cmwide R  -   16 A large Canton famille-rose vase, Qing dynasty, late 19th century the baluster body enamelled with panels of battle and court scenes, enclosed by borders of flowers, butterflies and insects, the neck and shoulders similarly enamelled, applied with a pair of green and gilt chilong and a pair of dogs of fo , the petal-shaped rim enamelled to the lip with further blooms, 136cm high R  -   This lot appears in photographs of Harcroft, Cape Town, during Charles and Muriel Rycroft’s occupancy post 1951. 15 16 23
