52 Hamilton Russell Vineyards Pinot Noir Vertical 05-09 05-09 750ml 5 (1 x 5) R4 000 – 6 000 PROVENANCE Producer ITEM NOTES Located behind the old fishing village of Hermanus, Hamilton Russell Vineyards is one of the most southerly wine estates in Africa. The property was purchased in 1975 by Tim Hamilton Russell and in 1991 his son, Anthony Hamilton Russell, took over and immediately narrowed their range down to only Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This proved to be a masterstroke and made the Hemel-en-Aarde valley notorious for producing the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in South Africa and a recognised expression outside of Burgundy. This Pinot Noir vertical features bottles matured in the estate’s own cellars and each carries a numbered print of South African artwork from the owner’s private collection. Label prints are: 2005 William Kentridge; 2006 Gerard Sekoto; 2007 Gail Caitlin; 2008 Jacobus Hendrik Pierneef and 2009 Beezy Bailey. A rare collector’s item.
