Over two decades, his pursuit for quality in the Swartland has been unparalleled in South Africa and he was voted Winemaker of the Year in 2017 by the International Master of Wine Institute. His 2009 release of old-vine, single-vineyard wines was a ground-breaking initiative in reviving forgotten, century-old vineyards. The first vintages of Skurfberg, Kokerboom, Pofadder and T’Voetpad along with the once-off Eselshoek and legendary Mev. Kirsten are the rarest modern South African wines.
