133 Vergelegen V 2005 750ml 6 (1 x 6) R10 000 – 12 000 PROVENANCE Private Client ITEM NOTES Situated on the Schaapenberg Mountains, Vergelegen dates back 300 years. Anglo America purchased the property in 1987 and invested extensively in the estate before André van Rensburg arrived in 1998. Having produced fine, modern wines for two decades, Vergelegen is one of South Africa’s top producers. The flagship V is a Cabernet Sauvignon carefully selected from their Stonepine and Rondekop vineyards. 2003 was a powerful vintage and is now reaching maturity. ‘Some lovely earthiness here. Black fruit, liquorice, quite dense and structural – more backward than the 2007. Smoky, charred character. Flawless fruit.’ Richard Hemming MW, 17.5/20
