107 Keets First Verse 2009 750ml 6 (1 x 6) R4 500 – 5 500 PROVENANCE Wine Cellar ITEM NOTES Chris Keet was winemaker and viticulturist of Cordoba before a three-year sabbatical and then the establishing of Keet Wines. His maiden release was a blend of 32% Cabernet Franc, 26% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec and 10% Petit Verdot. One critic referred to it as, ‘Earth’s poetry in a bottle’due to its elegant style, reminiscent of the icon Cordoba wines. If you look hard enough, there’s a hint of herbaceousness and there’s also a little oak-derived vanilla, both of which serve to add to the wine’s complexity. Acidity is fresh, tannins fine grained, the overall package precisely assembled. But what really wows about this wine is the fruit purity. Christian Eedes, Winemag .co.za , 17/20
