LITERATURE Ellen Davis-Mesman (1998) The Colourful Palette of Alfred Krenz . Cape Town: Ellen Davis-Mesman. Illustrated on page 67, number 53, with the title Basuto Abstract . ‘Rather different is the Basuto Abstract (1962) in which Krenz used a figure wrapped in a blanket, and abstracted the figure and its surrounds in a colourful patchwork, which gives the impression of a collage. In this respect it is different from his other abstracts. This painting is very evocative of Africa in the earthy rich colours of rusty brown and orange’.
