Strauss & co - 13 February 2016, Cape Town
La Motte Wine Estate is situated in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley in South Africa’s Cape Winelands. The winning bidder will receive 36 bottles each of the award-winning La Motte Pierneef Premium Collection of wines: 2015 Pierneef Sauvignon Blanc and 2013 Pierneef Syrah Viognier, featuring a variety of twelve executions of linoleum-cut artworks by famed South African landscape artist J.H. Pierneef on the front labels, i.e. each six-bottle presentation of the Pierneef Collection will offer a variety of different artworks selected for that specific vintage. 2013 Pierneef Syrah Viognier is a classic Rhône-style wine, while 2015 Pierneef Sauvignon Blanc reflects the fynbos character of the southernmost vineyards in the Cape Winelands. In addition, the lot includes a bronze sculpture, Harvest Girl, by renowned sculptor Toby Megaw. Standing 70cm tall, the significant work depicts a young girl carrying a basket of grapes that represents the importance and energy of harvest time in the winelands, while her hair and dress suggest movement and vigour, and her stance, pride and passion. The last of only fifteen cast especially for La Motte, this beautiful collector’s item will be a valuable addition to any art collection and is an elegant décor element. To crown it all, the winning bidder and three guests will be treated to a culinary experience of a different kind – a sumptuous lunch in Pierneef à La Motte Restaurant, where a selection of Chef Michelle Theron’s interpretations of traditional Cape Winelands Cuisine will be paired exquisitely with La Motte wines. — www.la-motte.com — Lot Summary 36 bottles of 2015 La Motte Pierneef Sauvignon Blanc. — 36 bottles of 2013 La Motte Pierneef Syrah Viognier. — A bronze sculpture by Toby Megaw, Harvest Girl. — Sumptuous lunch for four at Pierneef à La Motte Restaurant. — AUCTION AMBASSADORS - Hein Koegelenberg The LaMotte Lot 71
