Aitsa Aftercare Centre The dream and vision of the Aitsa Aftercare Centre is to improve the quality of the lives of school children living in the Dwarsriver Valley and Kylemore area by providing them with a safe, stimu- lating and nurturing environment in the afternoons after school. Here they will have a sense of belonging and feel loved. Recent experience and research give ample proof that technology and evolving blended-learning practices could have powerful, positive benefits. Eduvate intends to bring forth a redesign in how learning takes place and a flip in traditional thinking. info@eduvate.org.za Hemel & Aarde Community Project The Hemel-en-Aarde Development Association was set up by the local farmers and is a joint initiative with other stakeholders in the area. They identified community development with a special focus on education as a key area for their involvement and established the Hemel-en-Aarde Community Project (HEACP) to tackle these issues. frieda@hermanuswineroute.com Pebbles Project The Pebbles Project aims to enrich the lives of children from dis- advantaged backgrounds with special educational needs, through providing support and training to local wine farm and township crèches. They also establish after-school provision for older children living in the Cape Winelands. The Pebbles project was founded by Sophia Warner. www.pebblesproject.co.za The Kusasa Project The Kusasa Project’s goal is to positively impact the children of the Franschhoek Valley by offering educational opportunity, sporting activities and a good example of personal interaction to kids who live in an environment which disappoints them, harms them and offers little opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty. www.kusasaproject.org SPARK School @ Sustainability institute The children of South Africa deserve an education that best serves their needs without any compromise. SPARK Schools aims to provide a model that is affordable to the country and produces internation- ally competitive scholars. www.sparkschools.co.za Wine Training South Africa WTSA is a non-profit organization that provides an extensive training program to cellar workers in the South African wine industry. Following a holistic program and focusing on developing the individual as a whole, this should lead to visible and measur- able success throughout the industry. Miles Mossop from Tokara is one of the Trustees. www.winetrainingsa.co.za Community Keepers Community Keepers offers psychosocial support to learners by providing professional assessments, counseling and therapy. They establish themselves at schools, where they deliver profes- sional services to learners, educator’s and parents. www.communitykeepers.org The Lunchbox Fund The Lunchbox Fund is a Non-Profit Organization that focuses on fostering education via nutrition by providing a daily meal for orphaned and at-risk school children in township and rural areas of South Africa. www.thelunchboxfund.org Maranatha Trust A non-profit that facilitates community projects focused on educa- tion in the Swartland. It does so by assisting and empowering the community to work together to address the local problems and is currently focusing on launching pre-schools.
