He is one of the rising stars in contemporary visual arts in South Africa. He was trained as a printmaker at Artist Proof Studio and completed an internship in the Artist Proof Studio Gallery. He won the Absa L’Atelier Gerard Sekoto Award in 2012 from where he launched his career. As part of the Absa L’Atelier Gerard Sekoto Award he completed a residency in France and was granted a travelling solo exhibition throughout Southern Africa. Sibiya is well-known for his linocuts and combination prints. The images portrayed in Bambo’s work reflects his environment both growing up and as an adult.
