Sir George Plowman, Administrator of Natal, became the first president of the Natal section of The Mountain Club of South Africa in 1919. Goodoo was one of several farms acquired in the same year by The Natal Parks Board in order to establish the Natal National Park. It was only in 1947, after the visit of the Royal Family, that the park was referred to as the Royal Natal National Park.’
